Preschool 1 (this class meets on the steps) Target age preschool, often 3-5

This class introduces the swimmer to the water in a fun and playful way. Children will learn to put their face in water, go under water, blow bubbles with their nose and mouth submerged, open their eyes under water, retrieve objects from varying levels on the steps, and they will be introduced to beginner strokes.

Preschool 2 (this class meets in the shallow end of the pool) Target age preschool, often 3-5

This class is for beginning swimmers who are comfortable being in the water and have already been exposed, or taught, the things in Preschool 1 lessons. Children will learn to hold their breath for 3 seconds, float or glide 5 seconds with support, to bob 10 times, to jump in and recover, how to get out of the pool and to flutter kick on front and back,

Learn to Swim 1 (this class meets on the wall at the south side of the pool) Target age often 5-8

This class is for swimmers who are working towards swimming across the pool. They will learn to bob and submerge their head completely many times, to jump into deep water from the poolside, to dive from a kneeling position, to coordinate arms and legs in the front crawl with side breathing across the pool, back crawl arm action, combined stroke and turning over from front to back among other skills.

Learn to Swim 2 (this class uses lane 5) Target age often 6-9

Swimmers in this class will learn to swim the length of the pool, deep water bobbing, dive from standing position, elementary backstroke, back crawl one length, sidestroke and breaststroke 10 yards each, and turning among other skills.

Learn to Swim 3 (this class uses lane 6) Target age often 7 and up

Swimmers in this class will learn butterfly kick, freestyle, breaststroke, and backstroke. They will learn to swim 50 yards (down and back in the pool) using backstroke and freestyle.

Stroke Development (This class uses lane 6) Target age often 7 and up

This class focuses on stroke mastery through technique development and repetition. This class will touch on all four strokes, plus flip turns, and competitive block starts.

Beginner Adult Swim (This class uses lane 6) Target age often 18 and up (*not offered for session 1*)

This class is for adults that either want to learn new strokes or strengthen the strokes they already know. The instructor will be able to tailor some of the lessons to each swimmers’ individual goals.
